The identity of "The Faithful and Discreet Slave", solved - I think.
by Island Man in“who really is the faithful and discreet* slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time?
- matthew 24:45. let's be honest, the faithful and discreet slave logically cannot refer to any and every christian.
this is not merely an encouragement for all christians to prove themselves faithful and discreet.

Lurking JWs, if you're to love Jesus more than family, does it make sense to withhold family to coerce persons to return to Jesus?
by Island Man injesus said that his true disciples would love him more than family.
(matthew 10:37) therefore, ex-jws worthy of reinstatement should be returning because they love jesus more than family - not because of wanting to restore family association.
if they truly love jesus more than family they would still return despite their family continuing to communicate with them, because they will value their relationship with jesus as a prize to be attained above and beyond their relationship with their family.

Why the Bible cannot be the work of an all-wise God that epitomizes love.
by Island Man inthere's simply no way to honestly deny that the ot condones genocide, slavery and misogyny.
there are too many passage showing yahweh commanding his people to wipe out this nation and that nation - women and innocent children included!
it leaves us with a god who wrote a book that very, very, very much seems like it condones genocide, but it doesn't, etc.. what kind of god does that?

Could we use the new shunning guidelines to our advantage?
by Island Man inaccording to new, officially published guidelines, jws can now shun a person who has not been disfellowshipped from the congregation.
i see this guideline being abused by many jws who have an axe to grind with a fellow jw.
for example, let's say sister peinindiass rubs sister sensitive the wrong way.

The important questions JWs should be asking themselves about this week's Immitate Their Faith study
by Island Man inwhy did jonah think that he could run away from jehovah?
did he think that jehovah was a local god whose power and influence would not extend as far as tarshish?
and why would jehovah choose as his prophet a man like jonah who evidently did not appreciate that jehovah can find you know matter where you go?.

Lurking JWs: Do people really need to know and use the word "Jehovah" or other language equivalents, to truly know God?
by Island Man inwatchtower puts forth the argument that you can't really know god unless you know and use the appellation "jehovah" or its equivalent in other languages.
is this really true?
i say it's not true and i will demonstrate to you why.. god's name is not a mere label that we have to use to communicate with him so that he knows we're talking to him.

How are awake JWs going to deal with the life and death, Dual Power of Suicide, no blood card issue?
by Island Man inthere was a recent leak of a letter to congregations regarding a new dpa no blood card.
part of the letter reads as follows:.
as a reminder, you should provide copies of your completed advance decision document to (1) those who served as witnesses, (2) your general practitioner (doctor), and (3) your congregation secretary.

From a christian perspective, would true love expect to be thanked? Would true love bemoan the absence of an expression of thanks?
by Island Man ini think most people in most cultures see it as a bad thing to not thank someone for a good deed they've done you.
in fact you have probably heard someone say something like this - or you've said it yourself:.
"person x is so ungrateful!
